Air India CMD V Thulasidas was on a private visit to Mangalore on Jan 1, 2007.
Rajesh Sequeira, co-ordinator Karnataka NRI Forum, caught up with him on behalf of Daijiworld.com and sought information on the possibility of increase in the number of international flights to Mangalore and to other destinations.

He was very positive and assured that as and when thenew aircraft are acquired, Air India Express would surely increase its frequency to Mangalore and also start other destinations like Abu Dhabi - Muscat- Mangalore; Kuwait- Mangalore and the like.
Peter Kerkar, Global CEO, Cox & Kings, Urshila Kerkar, CEO for India Cox & Kings and Eulalia D'Souza, chairperson Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry's tourism sub-committee were also present.

The meeting also dwelt on the potential areas of development of Mangalore. Thulasidas however pointed out that the bad roads were a hindrance to quick development of the region.
Expressing his views on the inconveniences caused by fog conditions in Delhi, Thulasidas expressed happiness on how people have been very co-operative inspite of delays in flights to Mangalore. Any in this sector will affect schedules in Mangalore.
Air India is doing its best to ensure smooth movement of flights, he said.
